This is one of the premieres of the week to me the most attention. It is an epic drama based in a very interesting (and cruel) in the history of Europe, the Middle Ages. And what you see in the trailer, seems to have taken great care to detail the setting is realistic.
Jonathan EspaƱol directs this epic that tells a very combulso period in the history of England, the rebellion of a group of Templars against the tyranny of their king. I’ll leave the synopsis and the trailer for yourself you decide to see it or not:
The year is 1215. King John of England (Paul Giamatti) has been forced to sign the Magna Carta. Furious, he recruits an army of ruthless mercenaries who begins to raze the country to restore absolute monarchy. Just a group of gentlemen gathered by Baron Albany (Brian Cox) and entrenched in the castle of Rochester stands between him and victory. With them, Marshall (James Purefoy), a Templar knight tormented by guilt about the atrocities committed during the Crusades, and mercenaries who are among Beckett (Jason Flemyng) and the young Guy (Aneurin Barnard). In the midst of the battle, Marshall also must deal with their burgeoning feelings for Isabel (Kate Mara), the beautiful lady of the castle and the wife of Reginald de Cornhill (Derek Jacobi).
It is clear that it will not be the best movie of the year nor the most original, but it seems a fun film for fans of this kind of epic stories. Are you one of them?
