One might think that after films like “Trainspotting” and “Slumdog Millionaire”, won the Oscar and Golden Globe in 2009 – there are not many things to say. But that does not work the dynamics of Hollywood or the film in general and even less of a director like Danny Boyle, who aspires to the Oscar again with a film that has caused mixed feelings.
After success with “Slumdog Millionaire” darling of the critics and the general public, Danny Boyle did not take too long to start a new project. This time telling a story of survival that sometimes forced us to close your eyes, clench your teeth or feel how the nausea began to grow in our bodies with scenes that caused worldwide controversy: “127 Hours. ”
Starring James Franco, this film travels with a man caught in the middle of nowhere, the long road back to civilization and survival. Path not easy for a man caught it is forced to amputate one of her limbs, with all the harshness of the case, to save his life.
The fibers that shook the world with “127 Hours” might feel the same on February 27 for a new ceremony of the Academy Awards, awards to which this magnificent film from Danny Boyle competes for Best Picture, title who heads the six categories for which it competes.
To begin I must say that “127 Hours” is an almost perfect mixture of several ingredients that could make it the Best Picture Oscar the next beyond the strong competitors have.
A cast headed by James Franco (Aron Ralston)-without a doubt one of the biggest names in the acting field today, “the spectacular desert landscape image of a U.S. and a drama that leads to despair, this film makes a serious candidate. A combination, however, was not enough for Boyle received a new nomination for Best Director.
James Franco is the one who takes much of the burden, if not all, of this film. Their suffering is familiar but the chances of falling into disgrace is not remotely similar. But this is precisely the success of Franco shared with Boyle and at first I reached for candidatizado by the Academy. It will have to choose between suffering of a James Franco led to the end or, say, a Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) battling stuttering.
No less difficult is the competition of “127 Hours” which could be considered the third most important nomination: Best Adapted Screenplay where you have to beat, no further than the masterful adaptation by Aaron Sorkin in “Social Network” certainly the favorite of the night in this year’s Academy Awards.
Highlight the nomination for Best Editing for “127 Hours”, a work that speaks for itself and has good possibilities beyond that “Inception” has the support of critics and audiences in this category, a section This year the Academy has also masterpieces of these two: “The Speech of the King”, “Black Swan” and “Social Network.”
Finally there are the nominations for sound composition: Best Original Score and Best Original Song, categories that rarely ceases to be a mystery, as in this case, except for the presence of “Toy Story 3″ in the latter, which may already have secured this statuette.
If Danny Boyle anxious, as we assume, once again triumph in the biggest night of the film industry, taking the stage to receive an Oscar again, this time for Best Film, at least-complex will have a few weeks. Perhaps, you have to muster the courage to Franco and his character in front of cameras and supporting the brutal competition that this time, frankly, not very favorable to this great British director.
